Pool Access and Regulations

Pool Access 

  • Key card is required for entry into the pool area and access to the bathrooms.
  • Only one key card is issued per household.

  • Do not open the gate for anyone besides other family members and/or your own guests. If you open the gate for non-card carrying individuals, you could lose your pool privileges for a period of 1 week to the remainder of the season.
  • If a homeowner has a balance due on their account for any reason, no member of the homeowner’s family or their guests may use the pool. Members of the Hamptons of Duluth HOA Board or the Pool Committee have the authority to ask any of these homeowners/family members to leave the pool immediately.
  •  In the event of an emergency (i.e. swimmer in distress, electrical storm) everyone must clear the pool immediately or as directed by the lifeguard.
  • During lifeguard practice drills, everyone must comply with the lifeguard’s instructions as if it is a real emergency.
  • The pool will be closed during inclement weather and/or emergency situations. 

Pool Rules

  • Children age 10 and under must be at the pool with and supervised by an adult.
  • Children who do not know how to swim must be accompanied by an adult at all times, even if they are using a flotation device (i.e. baby boat, water wings, ring, or life vest).
  • Babies and toddlers who are not potty-trained must wear a disposable swim diaper and a swimsuit.  REGULAR DISPOSABLE DIAPERS ARE NOT ALLOWED.
  • Please change swim diapers often at the changing stations located in both restrooms and place soiled diapers in the restroom garbage — not in the garbage cans located on the pool deck.
  • The pool will be closed 24 hours or until cleared for opening by the Health Department in the event of fecal or any other contamination.
  • Swimmers must wear proper bathing attire. Basketball shorts, sportswear, cotton, or any other clothing that is not specified swimwear is not permitted. Both males and females must wear swimwear that covers their private parts.
  • Food and drinks must be kept at least 5 feet away from the pool.
  • No chewing gum.
  • NO GLASS CONTAINERS allowed on Pool Deck. (Please clean up after yourself and place all trash in the garbage cans.)
  • Alcoholic beverages must be kept out of sight. No underage drinking is permitted.
  • Individuals who are intoxicated or under the influence of drugs may not use the pool.
  • Inappropriate behavior that may disturb other pool users including but, not limited to:

–No climbing or misuse of Lifeguard equipment. Only Lifeguards are allowed on the Lifeguard chair/stand.

–No yelling, screaming, bullying, or use of profanity

–No public displays of affection or lewdness

–No footballs or other large balls in the pool area

–No running, pushing, jumping, dunking, holding others under water, or rough play

–No sharp objects, hazardous materials, BB guns, pellet guns or other firearms are permitted in the pool area

–No bicycles, skateboards, roller skates, “Heelys”, scooters or other vehicles in the pool area. Please park bicycles in the rack in the parking lot.

–No diving

–No solo swimming

–No smoking or vaping within the fenced pool area

–No animals other than service animals are allowed within the fenced pool area

–No misuse of the pool furniture, i.e. sitting on tables or putting chairs in the baby or large pool

–Persons with a contagious disease, diarrhea, skin, eye, ear or nasal infections may not use the pool. No spitting, spouting of water or nose blowing in the pool. If you are feeling unwell, please do not enter the pool area.

  • All residents must observe safety rules and be aware that you are entering the pool area at your own risk.

 

Lifeguards, Hamptons of Duluth Board Members or Pool Committee members as assigned by the Board are authorized to uphold and enforce pool rules. 

Please note that Lifeguards are available on weekends only (Saturday and Sunday) as well as Board-authorized pool parties (Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day).

  • Please pay attention to the Lifeguard’s whistle at all times.
  • Do not talk back to the Lifeguard or others in authority.
  • The Lifeguards, Board, or Pool Committee members can stop any pool games when they interfere with the enjoyment of the pool by others.  In addition, they can restrict the use of rafts and other large pool toys when the pool is crowded.
  • During the Lifeguard break (approximately 15 minutes per hour), all swimmers under the age of 17 must vacate the pool.
  • Please notify the Lifeguard of any hazardous situation if you are concerned about the condition of the pool or the water or if you are uncomfortable with the behavior of others.

The Lifeguards, the Hamptons of Duluth Homeowners Association Board of Directors and the Pool Committee have the authority to take additional disciplinary action whenever necessary.

The Lifeguards are NOT babysitters.  Parents are responsible for their children.

Baby Pool

  • For use by children aged 6 years and under ONLY.
  • Non-potty-trained babies/toddlers who enter the Hampton’s pools must wear the following:

                –Disposable swim diaper

                –Bathing suit

No exceptions – the Lifeguards will be checking, and any parent whose child is not dressed appropriately will be asked to leave the pool.

Baby Pool Responsibilities

  • Parents are responsible for their children in the baby pool at all times
  • No rafts or other large pool toys
  • Please turn off the fountains when the baby pool is not in use

Guest Limits

Guest limits per household at any given time are as follows:

  • Adults (age 18 and above): 6 guests
  • Nobody under the age of 18 should have any guests without an adult present

All guests must be accompanied by a card-approved resident at all times. Residents who have had their key card deactivated due to outstanding homeowner dues or a disciplinary action may not be present in the pool area. Please bring your pool card to the pool each time.

Every precaution is taken for the health and safety of all concerned. The Hamptons of Duluth Homeowners Association, its Board of Directors and Pool Committee are not responsible for injuries to residents or their guests. Residents and their guests are responsible for their own valuables.
